I belli di Waikiki formed in 2000 influenced by Elvis Presley movies. The band was immediately noticed in at the SUMMER Jamboree rockabilly festival in Senigallia in 2001. Thanks to this event, I Belli di WAIKIKI were invited to many European festivals such as: Walldorf Rock’n’Roll Weekender (DE), Brandeburger rockabilly MEETING (DE), Rhythm RIOT (GB), and many others.
In 2003 they were the first European band to play at the Tiki Weekender, the Hukilau, in Ft. Lauderdale,, Florida. I Beilli di Waikiki was invited to play again at the Hukilau in subsequent years.
I Belli di
Waikiki has played several U.S. cities such as Atlanta, Knoxville, Athens, and
Orlando, Tampa, Austin, West Palm Beach and many others. In 2005 during a
concert at Lido of Venice, I Belli di Waikiki was noticed by Marco Giusti who
hired them for television show Isolati run by MAX Giusti and broadcast on Rai
2. Also, in 2005, they played on a broadcast hosted by RENZO Arbore on
national television. Other small television appearances would follow.
The 2007 marks an important time for I Belli di WAIKIKI. SONY PICTURES included their track ALOHA OE in the animated movie Surf’s Up.
Thereafter,
I Belli di Waikiki took a break for a few years when the upright bass player
moved to Austin, TEXAS. In 2014 the band rejoined in the studio to record
their third album. The SWATCH watch, SCUBA LIBRE, incudes a song
from the band for their advertising campaign.
